Spur
gears
A spur gear or straight cut gear, is a gear with teeth that project outwards from a cylindrical surface. In spur gears, the edge of each tooth is parallel to the axis of rotation and they mesh together when they are fitted to parallel shafts. Spur gears tend to be noisier than helical gears because they operate with a single line of contact between teeth. Spur gears are used to increase or decrease the torque, or power in items ranging from heavy equipment to household items like washing machines and blenders.
Shrewsbury Machine & Gear manufactures Spur Gears in a variety of material and in sizes ranging from ¼” to 72”
